HALL HISTORY
Named University of Notre Dame's "Hall of the Year" for 2000-2001 school year; The hall was originally a seminary for Holy Cross Brothers, named Dujare Institute; Sold to the University in the late 1960's and converted to a men's residence hall; Blessed Brother Andre Bessette visited while it was Dujare Institute; Named Carroll Hall after Charles Carroll, cousin of Bishop John Carroll, and only Catholic signer of Declaration of Independence; Carroll has some of the largest student rooms on campus; Carroll Hall is located on the west shore of St. Mary's Lake and offers spectacular views of the Golden Dome and Basilica.
ROOM INFORMATION
As the smallest male residence hall, Carroll has approximately 35% singles, 35% doubles, 20% triples, and 10% quads. There are no private bathrooms in Carroll Hall. Rooms will either face the lakes/Dome or the west edge of campus.

RECTOR: REV. JAMES LEWIS, O.CARM.
  Returning from a two-year stint in England as rector of the undergraduate London Program, Rev. James Lewis, O.Carm., will take over as rector of Carroll Hall. Prior to his time in London, Fr. Jim spent three years as a social worker in Joliet, IL, as well as six years working as a teacher, campus minister, and member of the administrative team at Joliet Catholic Academy. He also taught for four years at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, IL. Fr. Jim received a Masters of Social Work degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1996, an M.Div. from Washington Theological Union in 1985, and a B.A. from Marquette in 1976. His other interests include traveling, spending time in the mountains of Colorado, and avidly rooting for his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. Fr. Jim also serves as an assistant counselor in the Office of Alcohol and Drug Education on a part time basis.
