| Kuukua Yomekpe, who hails originally from Ghana, Africa, has spent much of her time in the Midwest. She received her B.A. in English from Ohio Dominican College in 2000 and earned an M.A. in English from the University of Dayton in 2003. She comes to Notre Dame from Columbus, OH, where she has been working as an editor at Chase Manhattan for the last year.
Kuukua has worked with college students in a host of areas. She spent a year teaching English composition to first-year students at the University of Dayton, where she supervised the writing lab, assisted with the annual Literary Festival, and served as a mentor for underrepresented students. Dividing her time as a Graduate Assistant between Dayton, OH, and Alexandria, Egypt, Kuukua also spent a year helping to organize the University of Dayton’s African Literature Association conference in 2002-2003. She has served as an in-residence campus minister, where she was responsible for 1,200 first- and second-year college students. She has also spent time in Haiti, where she organized and led a team of undergraduates on an alternative spring break service-learning trip. Kuukua’s personal interests include writing and dancing.
